The State Department (led by the still-sour Hillary Clinton) announced today that it will field its own army in Iraq after the withdrawal of U.S. troops next year. The reasoning behind this was to ensure the safety of U.S. diplomats and embassy in Iraq. Those "soldiers" will be contractors hired by the State Department, and we all know how reliable those are (Check this out).
Besides the fact that this move is unprecedented, it solidifies a few conspiracy theories that have been floating around for about 7 years now. When the U.S. invaded Iraq, many thought that because of Iraq's massive oil reserve, we would not leave until that well is dry (literally). As most brushed aside those allegations, especially after the announcement of U.S. troops withdrawal, a second look is warranted.
It behooves us, as Americans, to question the validity of such a move even if both sides of the isle in Congress agree on it. Our mere presence in such countries have only worsened the situation and our image. We are viewed by most in the world as the "Evil Empire" and we haven't made a positive move to convince the world otherwise in quite some time. Perhaps we are not able to because it is the truth.
